Qiddiya Investment Company participates in the 16th Session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (COP 16)
Riyadh — The 16th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (COP 16) took place in Riyadh, from 2 – 13 December 2024, during which Qiddiya Investment Company showcased its many sustainability initiatives and highlighted its role in achieving Saudi Vision 2030 environmental and sustainability goals.
This participation underscores Qiddiya Investment Company’s commitment to sustainable development, which seeks to restore land fertility and address the challenges of desertification, as per the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
Qiddiya Investment Company plays a pioneering part in providing innovative and sustainable solutions that address climate change, doing so by taking innovative and effective measures that rehabilitate and uphold our land, and the biodiversity found on it.
These measures include reducing energy consumption by 20% (compared to the energy consumption index issued by the Saudi Electricity Company for 2021) and treating/reusing wastewater by 100%, as well as aiming to recycle 94% of solid waste and treating 90% of organic waste by 2035, achieved by turning it into organic fertilizer designated for sustainable agriculture.
Qiddiya Investment Company’s participation in this event reflects its firm commitment to supporting the Kingdom's Vision and pioneering efforts in promoting innovation and environmental sustainability on both local and international levels.
